A: Yes, the projector comes with its own remote control unit. The ergonomic infra-red remote control adds source select, menu, volume, mute, and a trackpad for wireless mouse control. Q: Can the projector be mounted on the ceiling? A: Yes, the projector can be mounted for upside-down projection. Q: Can the projector do rear projection? A: Yes, the projector is designed to do rear projection. Q: Can a computer monitor be run simultaneously? A: Yes, you can also view the video on the computer monitor. To do this, connect the computer monitor's cable to the projector's Monitor port. This is useful when you need to view the video output, but the projection screen is behind you. Q: Why won't the power status light come on? A: The projector may not be receiving power or it may be malfunctioning. If there are any lights on or flashing on the projector, turn off the projector and wait until there are no lights on or flashing. Then, check that the power cable is connected securely both at the power outlet and the projector and press the Power button again. Q: The projection lamp light is flashing orange and I can't turn on the projector. What's wrong? A: The lamp is cooling down. Wait until the light turns off and then turn on the projector. Q: Why are the projected images getting darker or starting to deteriorate? A: If the projection lamp light is red, the projector lamp needs to be replaced. Please refer to Chapter 5 page 84 of your User's Guide for more information. Q: Why is the Power light red? A: The projector is overheating, which turns the lamp off automatically. Let the projector cool for a few minutes, then turn it back on. Make sure nothing is blocking the ventilation vents. Check to see if the air filter is clogged. If it is, clean the filter by following the steps in Chapter 5 of your User's Guide. Let the projector cool for a while after cleaning the air filter. If the projector continues to overheat after you clean the air filter, the problem may be caused by damage to the cooling fan or internal circuits. Please contact the EPSON Connection for further assistance. Q: Why are the Power and projection lamp lights flashing simultaneously? A: An abnormality may have occurred in the projector. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord. Then plug the power cord back in and turn on the projector. If nothing changes, contact the EPSON Connection for further assistance. Do not attempt to service this product yourself. Q: Why am I getting a NO SIGNAL message? A: An image source not connected to the projector is selected, the signal is not being output from the computer, or the signal is not reaching the projector. Make sure the connectors are securely attached to both the projector and the image source. Then check that the image source is selected correctly. When NO SIGNAL is displayed, you cannot access the source (computer/video) menu. If the image appears on the computer and not on the projector, try pressing the computer or auto button on the projector. If there is still no image, check the computer's resolution and vertical refresh rate. Make sure the resolution you are trying to display is supported. If it is, try changing the refresh rate. Q: Why are the colors on the images wrong? A: The color balance may be incorrect. If you are displaying a computer image, adjust the red, green, and blue settings in the Video menu. If you're displaying video, adjust the color and tint (NTSC only) settings on the Video menu. You can also use the on-line Help menu (accessed by pressing the Help button on the remote control or the control panel of the projector) to assist you with the adjusting of all of the previously mentioned settings. Q: What is the difference between the PowerLite 5000 and the PowerLite 7000? A: The PowerLite 7000 is compatible with modes EGA through SXGA (1280 x 1024). The video quality is improved by having the frame memory in the PowerLite 7000 and improving the SizeWise technology. Also, color uniformity is improved beyond the PowerLite 5000, due to improvements in the LCD electronics. A wider range of sync and tracking modes is also available on the PowerLite 7000. Q: What is SizeWise Resizing Technology? A: EPSON's patent-pending SizeWise Technology is a unique resizing technology offering remarkable reproduction accuracy. SizeWise replicates SXGA resolution with virtually no noticeable loss in content. SizeWise also expands lower resolutions to fill the screen. Q: What is Sleep mode? A: Sleep mode conserves electricity by automatically turning off the lamp after the projector has not been used for 30 minutes. In Sleep mode, the projector's power indicator is orange and only a minimum amount of the projector's circuitry remains on. This conserves electricity, it cools the projector, and extends the life of the lamp. Q: The projector's power is on and it has not been used for more then 30 minutes, but the projector will not go into Sleep mode. What should I do to enable this feature? A: The projector will only go into sleep mode if does not receive a signal. If a computer or monitor are connected with the power on a signal is present and the projector will not go into sleep mode. Q: Can I connect the PowerLite 7000 to a PC, a Macintosh or VCR? A: Yes, the PowerLite 7000 will connect simultaneously to a Macintosh, PC and/or VCR. Q: Does the projector support external audio? A: Yes, to connect the projector to an external sound system, you need to obtain an RCA-to-3.5 mm stereo audio cable. This would be available from a Computer dealer. Q: My image does not appear on the screen. What should I do? A: Check that the Power light is on and the lens cover is off. Make sure the cables are installed correctly, as described in Chapter 1 of your User's Guide. The correct image source may not be selected. Press the Source button on the remote control or the control panel to choose another image source. Q: Why is only part of the computer image displayed? A: If the computer's output resolution setting is higher than 1024 x 768, the projector resizes the image. If you keep pressing the resize button, the projector pans around the screen and then goes back to full image. If the computer output is not compatible with this resizing, choose a different display setting on the computer. In Windows 3.x, use Windows Setup in the Main program group. in windows 95/98, go to control panel and then choos display. For a Macintosh, choose Control Panels under the Apple menu and then choose Monitors. In the Monitors screen, choose Options and make sure Macintosh Hi-Res Display or another 1024 x 768 display is selected. For supported display settings, see your User's Guide. Also, you may need to modify existing presentation files if you created them for a different resolution. See your software manual for specific information. Q: Why are only part of my images blurred or out of focus? A: Adjust the Brightness and Contrast settings on the Video main menu. If you are viewing a computer image, also try adjusting the Comp Tracking and Comp Sync buttons on the projector's control panel. There may be dirt or smears on the lens. Clean the lens as described in your User's Guide. If you have already adjusted the focus and zoom, make sure the printer is lined up properly with the screen. It should be at least 3.9 feet from the screen. Please refer to users guide section referring to focusing and positioning the screen image Q: Why isn't there any sound? A: Check that the volume setting is not turned all the way down and that the audio/visual cable is securely attached to both the projector and the audio source. Also, the wrong source may be selected. Press either the Computer or Video button on the remote control or control panel to select the proper source. Q: Where can I buy a case for the projector? A: You can purchase a soft (ELPKS08), wheeled soft case (ELPKS07) or hard (ELPKS06) case from EPSON Accessories. Q: Why do I have a black screen? A: The computer signal cannot be interpreted by the projector. Verify the display format (refer to the User's Guide). When you see a black screen, you cannot access the projector menus. ***END***
